Justice for Jason
Wrongfully convicted on a false allegation, Jeremy Jason Mann serves out his life without the possibility of parole. Jason - developmentally disabled since birth - has been locked away in the Iowa prison system for over 30 years now. His cognitive and learning disabilities made him a prime target for an incompetent police force that took ignorance to a whole new level. The only crime that took place was done by the "law" and the only victim of what took place that day was Jason himself.
Jason's life as he knew it ended the night after his last day of his junior year of high school, when he was pulled from his bed and arrested. Our system is set up to prioritize conviction rates and all the power and resources are given to those that fulfill this purpose. It's not about the value of human life and freedom anymore - and innocence is meaningless once a person is caught in it's web. When a simple traffic ticket is all that it takes to get entangled - it's time we take a good look at the those in charge of upholding the law.
